When I bought this I was very hesitant as I saw older reviews referring to flimsy plastic parts. I think its possible there was a re-design, the model I got was rock solid. I drove it for 1400 miles, including a couple hours of rain, going probably average of 75 miles and it did not fail me. The no-sway attachment that comes with it is the key and it works great. I am using it on a hatchback style car with a road bike.

I commute 5 times a day about 40-50 miles roundtrip carrying one bike. After a horrible experience with a "budget" bike rack, I went to the bike store and purchased this one based on their recommendations. It is a great rack! Very sturdy and holds my bike in place. The only con is that I cannot open my trunk when the rack is on (I drive a Kia Rio), but I do not use it much, so it's not that big of a deal. Great purchase.

Mediocre product. despite it being a "three bike rack" I have only figured out how to get two bikes at a time on it. A friend says if he takes off all the front wheels on his bikes he manages to get three on. If I have to dis-assemble the bikes, I can just throw the pieces in the trunk. If the bars the bikes hang on were about two inches closer together and were totally straight instead of having a bend in the last couple of inches where they go into the trunk mount part; maybe three would fit. The purchase and delivery were smooth and efficient.

My latest purchase on Amazon was the worst. First there was the shipping, which I guess was my fault for not reading the fine print, but if you click on the super saver shipping then you may have a longer wait while they find which warehouse its in and wait for their weekly pick up at that warehouse, which delays the shipment. Next when I did finally get the item, the box looked as if I wasn't the first owner. I opened the package and placed the bicycle rack on my car only to find the rack had a defect in it(confirmed by a local bike shop). I personally think the item had been shipped to someone and they returned it and then it was shipped to me, though I have no actual fact of the matter.

I bought this 3 bike rack for myself, to mount on my Taurus and Mountaineer. I've never had more than one bike on it, always made sure the straps were secure (as secure as one can get), and always made sure the bike was secure to the rack (I used 2 extra bungee cords and a bike lock to make sure).
I managed to eek out a little over a years worth of use out of this thing. I did not have any problems with damage to my vehicles. I did, however, almost lose my bike, when one of the tiny little pins, held by plastic, gave way and one whole arm of the carrier fell off. I was going 70mph down the freeway when this happened (over smooth pavement). Fortunately, no one was hurt, and my bike was not damaged.
Like a previous poster commented... I'll never buy so much plastic again, and certainly won't be trusting this brand name. This rack was supposed to be able to handle the load of three bikes, and I never had more than one (Specialized Hard Rock Comp). I bought a hitch mount Yakima to replace it, and am much happier.
