Find the 555 on ebay! May 19, 2010 oddestfellow (Boston, MA United States) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I had the old style (Model 555) on my car, and thought this one looked so much cooler and just had to have it. So, I put the 555 on ebay and watched it get bid up to more money than it costs for the 872! I thought to myself "Sweet! Made enough to buy the new one! Suckers!"
I soon found out why. I could never get the 872 to fit properly on my car (2003 Toyota Matrix) and it would constantly vibrate on the highway, which caused more wind noise and defeated the purpose of the fairing (not to mention scratching up my roof where the feet made contact). The 872 doesn't have nearly the adjustability that the 555 had making it a pain in the you-know-what to get it on there right. I got so fed up that I gave it to my brother to see if he could get it to work on his Impreza wagon and he had the same issue.
Bottom line - see if you can find one of the old-style ones on ebay! They were great! I gave this 2 stars based solely on the looks compared to the old style. For me though - function is much more important than fashion.
Go for it! May 6, 2010 Dominik Sofian (USA) It should be standard equipment when you buy roof racks. Before I wasn't able to drive over 55mph because of noise from racks. Now noise is GONE!!!! Completely gone - sometimes with strong side wind I hear some little whistling, but I can deal with that. You need this toy!
great looking fairing February 21, 2010 P. Hoiekvam I have bought two of these one for my vehicle and one for the basket rack that goes on top of my Jeep. Easy to install and a quality product.
No more whistling! January 11, 2010 S. Dro (Boston, MA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I read reviews of people who loved or hated this rack... so I figured I would go for it. It was easy to install, once you got all the pieces together. I repeat, once you got all the pieces put together; there are a couple gaskets that I thought I was going to break when trying to set it up.
Once I did though, it went on my racks very easily and it stopped all whistling my racks used to make on the highway!
I think it looks pretty cool too.
Keep the roof bars quiet. November 29, 2009 NanoEra (Texas, USA) 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
I have no complaint about the fairing. Easy clip and bolt on. Light in weight but never rattle on the highway. I do get 1-2 mpg of mileage penalty for my V6 with the fairing and two crossbars on. However with minimal wind noise and low profile style, I decide to kepp them on all the time.
